Jessica Lange, pictured as character Elsa mars in "American Horror Story: Freak Show," exited the series earlier this year. However, fans are still hoping she'll return for Season 5, "Hotel." FX

Book your reservation now, because you’re not going to want to miss “American Horror Story: Hotel.” New details about the upcoming fifth season have fans not only excited about the terrifying drama to come, but also curious about one beloved actress – Jessica Lange. Since the reveal that “Hotel” will connect to Season 1, the LA Murder House, devoted followers are wondering if the Queen of “American Horror Story” will be making her triumphant return … despite announcing earlier this year that she was exiting the FX miniseries.

Fortunately there is good news. Although it is not confirmed that Lange will be returning to the show, series co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he’s working on getting the 66-year-old actress involved.

“It’s always possible,” Murphy teased of getting her onboard. “I’m trying to deal with her play schedule.”

As we previously reported, Lange is currently working with Murphy on a new Broadway production, “Long Day’s Journey into Night.” A preview of the play is scheduled at the American Airlines Theater in New York City on March 31, 2016. The production will officially open on April 19, 2016.

Lange starred in the first four seasons of “American Horror Story,” most recently playing Elsa Mars, the leader of one of the last freak shows in Jupiter, Florida. However during the first season of the FX miniseries, Lange portrayed Constance Langdon, the Harmon family’s next door neighbor from hell. Constance was a southern bell who moved to Los Angeles to become an actress. But she was never able to fulfill her dreams. Instead she married a man and moved into a gorgeous house … that turned out to be haunted with those that died within the walls. The bank repossessed the house, but Constance was drawn to it, doing everything in her power to get back inside the doors.

EW revealed earlier this week that “Hotel,” which is also set in Los Angeles, will visit the Murder House. Marcy (Christine Estabrook), the realtor who sold the Harmons their home, will return to show off Hotel Cortez. Murphy teased that one episode of Season 5 will revisit the Murder House, but it’s unclear if the scene will be in current day or a flashback to the past – potentially revisiting some of the former tenants.

The Murder House would be the perfect opportunity to reintroduce Constance, but the ball is in Lange’s court.

“Jessica is always about the character,” Murphy told EW. “She’ll be back – she’s not gone forever. But that’s the fresh and fun thing about the show: sometimes somebody has to go away before you realize how much you miss them. She wants to come back we just have to come up with something.”

“American Horror Story” Season 5, “Hotel,” will premiere on FX on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
