If you thought the premiere of “American Horror Story” Season 6 was scary then wait until you watch the preview for what’s coming next.

Fans of the FX anthology series learned on Wednesday night that the title of the new season is “My Roanoke Nightmare.” Episode 1 introduced Matt (Andre Holland) and Shelby (Lily Rabe), a couple who moved to Roanoke, North Carolina, after a traumatizing incident in Los Angeles. The two explain the chilling things that happened to them when they bought a beautiful old farmhouse in a TV special titled “My Roanoke Nightmare.” Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. portray the couple in a dramatic reenactment.

With the “Croatoan mystery” theme now revealed, check out four things to look forward to in future Season 6 episodes:

What Did Shelby Stumble Across?

Episode 1 concluded with Shelby in the woods surrounded by a group of people with torches. A bloody man came running into the center of the group, but the premiere ended before fans could really figure out what’s going on.

The preview reveals that they wanted to catch Shelby, but she somehow manages to escape. She tells Matt that they were devil worshippers that wanted to conduct a human sacrifice.

A Kidnapping Complicates Things

The house may have scared Shelby, but not her sister-in-law Lee (Adina Porter). Angela Bassett portrays Lee in the reenactment, and a clip shows her bringing her young daughter Flora to the house. What complicates things is that her ex-husband has full custody of her daughter. Matt reveals that her taking Flora is kidnapping.

Kathy Bates’ Character

“American Horror Story” viewers caught a quick look at Kathy Bates’ character in the final moments of the premiere. Details about her character, including her name, have yet to be revealed. However, the promo video reveals that she’ll be a major player moving forward.

“This place is mine. I protect this place,” she says in one scene that appears to be from a séance. “I shall stop at nothing to hold safe this colony.”

Denis O’Hare’s Character

The home video playing in the basement gave fans their first look at Denis O’Hare’s character. We still don’t know his name, but it sounds as if he was the previous owner of the house. Another home video featured in the preview shows him telling the camera that something in the woods and in the house is trying to kill him.
