The 2016 election cycle was a nightmare for a lot of people and Ryan Murphy is about to make it even scarier. The “American Horror Story” director has announced plans to tackle the state of democracy in America in Season 7 of the FX series.

On Wednesday, Murphy appeared on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” to discuss the details of the upcoming season of “American Horror Story.” The show does not have a title yet, but will center around Donald Trump’s shocking defeat of Hillary Clinton in some way. Murphy was unsure whether Season 7 of “American Horror Story” would feature a Trump character, but was certain that viewers would enjoy watching.

“I think it’ll be interesting for a lot of people,” Murphy said, according to People.

The show was expected to return this spring, though it seems that’s no longer on the table. “American Horror Story” Season 7 will not begin filming until June, according to Murphy. While the show generally returns in spring, this season will not be the first to deter. “American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare” premiered in September 2016.

Murphy did not discuss casting for Season 7 of “American Horror Story” during his “WWHL” appearance, but there is some information regarding that circulating online. The cast will, as always, be made up of stars from previous seasons. Emma Roberts has said in an ET Online interview that she’s open to appearing in another season of “American Horror Story.” The actress, who starred in Season 3 and Season 4 of the FX series, was hopeful that she would be able to appear in Season 6 but wasn’t able due to her filming schedule for “Scream Queens.” She added that if she does get recast, she’d like for her character and Lady Gaga’s to face off, calling it “my dream.”

Other rumors about casting are just that — rumors. Many fans believe Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson, Cheyenne Jackson and Lady Gaga will return for another season of “American Horror Story.” The speculation stems from their repeated appearances on the show. Fans remain hopeful that Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga and Chloë Sevigny will also return. No official confirmation has been made at this point.

While the exact details for Murphy and “American Horror Story” co-creator Brad Falchuk’s political season of “American Horror Story” remain unclear, we do have some clue what to expect based on early comments about Season 7. In a November 2016 conference call with TV Line, Murphy said the upcoming season would delved deeper into aspects of Season 4 — “Freak Show.” He revealed that some characters from that season would be returning, but did not say who. Murphy also told fans to expect lots of twists and turns, just like in Season 6.

“Next year, we will be going back to some ‘Freak Show’ characters, deeper histories and mythologies. So we’re sort of still exploring Season 4 in Season 7,” he told the publication.
