Sarina-Joi Crowe was eliminated from the top 12 on "American Idol" Season 14. Fox

On Thursday “American Idol” said goodbye to another contestant, narrowing the competition down from the top 12 to the top 11 as the Fox show inches closer to naming a Season 14 winner. Thursday’s episode was a big deal, however, not because of who was leaving, but for who will be joining “American Idol” in the next episode.

After another round of competition, fans said goodbye to Sarina-Joi Crowe. The 19-year old singer from Columbia, Tennessee, sang “Love Runs Out” by OneRepublic, the song she had previously used to audition in Nashville. Her performance was met with mild praise from the judges, but it was not enough to keep her from going home. Having been eliminated, Crowe performed “Neon Lights” by Demi Lovato in the hopes the judges would use one of their saves to keep her in the competition, but it was not to be. Hers was the first single elimination of the season.

Overshadowing the competition Thursday was the announcement that Kelly Clarkson – the Season 1 winner in 2002 – would be paying a visit in the next episode. Clarkson, who went on to a chart-topping, Grammy-winning career, will perform and serve as a mentor for the current crop of contestants. She has not appeared on the show that gave her her big break since 2011.

Also, next week “American Idol” adopts its new one episode-per-week schedule for the rest of the season after a busy semi-finals round.

Who will be the next singer eliminated? Fans will have to wait to find out. “American Idol” returns Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
