‘America’s Got Talent’
“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 did not fare as well in terms of ratings this week. NBC

The ratings for “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 dropped following Thursday night’s episode.

According to TV Line, the installment received a total of 6.9 million viewers and a 1.2 demo rating. The hit NBC series went on a week-long hiatus last week, but when it returned on Tuesday night, less viewers tuned in. For the past couple of weeks, “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 has been garnering over 12 million viewers per episode.

Additionally, it seems that the special tribute for late contestant Brandon Rogers, 29, and judge Heidi Klum giving the final golden buzzer of the season to Angelina Green, 13, did not help with the ratings either.

On June 11, family doctor Rogers passed away following a fatal car crash. At the time, Billboard reported that Rogers’ family wants the producers of “America’s Got Talent” to air his audition for Season 12. This final wish was granted on Tuesday night when NBC showed an over six-minute clip of Rogers before, during and after his audition. It was also revealed that he received only positive comments and yeses from all four judges. Klum and Mel B even said that he looks really good.

Meanwhile, in the same episode, Klum gave her golden buzzer to Green, who performed her own rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “I’ll Stand By You.” Green’s chilling performance was made even more memorable by her beautiful smile and touching story. The teen, who was raised by her single mom, was left behind by her dad when she was younger. She turned to music for comfort and eventually made her way to “America’s Got Talent” Season 12.

Green will be joining the four other golden buzzer recipients, namely, Mandy Harvey, Darci Lynne Farmer, Christian Guardino and the Light Balance dancers, in the live shows. All five contestants will no longer pass through the judge cuts, unlike the others who made it through the auditions but did not receive a golden buzzer from Klum, Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, Mel B and Tyra Banks.

“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
