Always super chic, Janelle Monae stuck to her classic black and white look but twisted it up a bit for Wednesday night. Monae's pompadour looked a bit more relaxed, as did her outfit. A peek of cleavage and flowing, wide-leg trousers were refreshing on this typically tightly-buttoned singer. Stunning.

Worst

Lindsay Lohan looked the absolute worst at Wednesday's fete. The down-on-her-luck starlet (and recent Playboy centerfold) went with a white Tom Ford dress with Prada shoes, a Versace purse, and XIV Karats jewelry. All of that was lovely. What went majorly wrong was the bleached-out, overly-fried blonde hair, faded make-up and uneven skin tone.

The dazzling Elizabeth Hurley looked radiant a floor-sweeping gray Roberto Cavalli gown. The showed off her amazing figure in the beautiful, bejeweled dress. On her arm, she linked boyfriend, Shane Warne, a professional Australian cricketer.

Sarah Jessica Parker, a usual fashion goddess, made some odd pairings at Feb. 8 amfAR Gala. As hostess of the night, Parker opted for an Oscar de la Renta dress with a leather Theyskens Theory jacket. Though this combination could be viewed as fashion-forward, the white gloves muddled up the entire look. Parker also wore a VBH bag, Fred Leighton earrings, Fenton bracelets, Manolo Blahnik shoes, and a Carole Tanenbaum vintage necklace.

At 45-years-old, this supermodel looks better than ever. Cindy Crawford hit the amfAR red carpet in a plunging Roberto Cavalli gown looking not a day over 35. The supermodel stunner took to the stage with fellow beauty Elizabeth Hurley.

Beehive alert! Gloria Estefan might have looking stunning in the fuchsia Roberto Cavalli gown with black fur shrug, but that hair was not ideal. The severe beehive 'do made the Cuban singer look like she belonged in a performance of "Hairspray."

Newly separated supermodel Heidi Klum attended the amfAR event in a Roberto Cavalli gown and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. The strapless dress was accented with copper sequins, a lovely compliment to her creamy skin tone.

Nicky Hilton went with this kitschy Valentino gown that looked more like sofa upholstery than anything else. The silhouette was flattering on Hilton's slim physique, however.

Leighton Meester gussied up in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton for the amfAR event. Even though the dress itself was gorgeous, it did not flatter Meester's frame. The Mary-Jane platforms with ankle strap did not help. A simple pump would have elongated her legs.

"Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi looked radiant in this dusty mauve gown. The mother of one showed off her enviable figure in this curve-hugging frock.

The amfAR Gala 2012 was held at Cipriana Wall Street Wednesday Feb. 8 to kick off New York Fashion Week and help raise money for AIDS research, promote prevention and spread education. The event was hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker who has been an avid supporter of the cause for years. She urged attendees to dig deep into your pockets during the auction.

Unfortunately, Sarah Jessica Parker did not dig deep enough into her wardrobe. The actress mixed together an unusal pairing of pink ball gown, black leather jacket and white satin gloves. Her Oscar de la Renta gown was stunning and the Theyskens Theory leather jacket could have been an edgy pairing; but the white satin princess gloves brought the entire ensemble south.

Another worst dressed at the amfAR Gala 2012 was actress Lindsay Lohan. The 25-year-old looked almost 45-years-old with bleached-out blonde hair, faded makeup and an uneven skin tone. The starlet has been blonde for a while now, perhaps to look more like her idol Marilyn Monroe. However, Lohan has tried multiple other hair hues that have worked better for her natural coloring including red and brown.

Some of best dressed at Cipriani on Wednesday night for the amfAR Gala included Elizabeth Hurley, Cindy Crawford and Janelle Monae. Elizabeth Hurley showed off her dangerous curves in a heather gray Roberto Cavalli gown. Crawford opted for Cavalli as well and looked decidedly younger than her 45-years. Janelle Monae went with her classic black and white uniform but switched it up a bit. Her pompadour looked a bit more relaxed, as did her outfit. A peek of cleavage and flowing, wide-leg trousers were refreshing on this typically tightly-buttoned singer.

Cavalli seemed to be the man of the night. Not only were his designs worn by multiple stars on the red carpet, but he was also honored during the amfAR Gala. I will give my speech with this voice. ... It's more sexy, he joked with a throaty laugh. Cavalli, who started blogging two weeks ago, says he writes every day and likens it to a reality show about my life. ... I invite everyone to follow my blog because that is me! Me and Lupo, my dog. Everybody loves my dog! He says it really is him blogging and tweeting: I do it by myself. I don't trust anyone! I discovered I love to write. It's a new emotion. I love to watch when people write me back, it's such love.
