Amico Games announced that it plans to upgrade the in-game graphics for its flagship product “Journey to the West Online.” Amico believes that this upgrade will enhance attractiveness to high-end Chinese mobile users. The game, based on the Chinese novel “Journey to the West,” is already one of Amico’s most profitable cell phone games with nearly 18 million users. Amico recognizes the constant technological advances with cell phones and wants to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding industry standards with their popular phone game.

Amico is seeking to continue to grasp a large portion of the rapidly expanding Chinese mobile market. Mobile subscribers in China increased by 18.6 million in the first two months of 2010, pushing the national total to 765.97 million, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on April 1. The Chinese telecom industry generated total revenues of $20.6 billion (RMB 140.6 billion) during the two-month period, up 6 percent year-on-year.

Regarding rapid mobile market growth, Mr. Lui stated in an earlier press release, “We are very excited about the increasing numbers of people subscribing to the expanding mobile networks and it is our Company’s goal to capitalize on this growth. We have very large target market and as long as the Chinese mobile market continues to grow it bodes well for Amico’s access to more mobile game users.”

As of the end of April, Amico has over 25,000,000 million registered users. The company saw an increase of users that exceeded 1 million new registrations during the month of March alone this year. Even with the successes of “Journey to the West Online,” Amico’s top selling game remains “Miracle Journey to the West” which accounts for nearly 75% of all registered users.
