Amy Winehouse died on Jul. 23 in her London apartment. The singer was just 27 years old.

London authorities were called at 3 p.m. local time to her address. However, Winehouse had already passed away upon their arrival.

We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer. Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time, her record label Universal said in a statement.

Currently, the cause of death is officially unknown, although multiple UK media reports claim that sources say she was on a drugs and alcohol binge before her death.

Although the singer, who won 5 Grammy Awards with her album Back to Black, struggle publicly with her drugs and alcohol addictions, her death still comes as a shock to her fans and colleagues in the entertainment world.
