Will Ferrell, or more accurately his character Rob Burgundy from the 2004 comedy Anchorman, appeared on last night's talk show, Conan, to make an announcement. No, the cologne Sex Panther is not hitting shelves, but a sequel to the hit film Anchorman is expected to start production later this year.

I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK -- including England -- that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman, said Ferrell on the show.

The actor made a quick appearance, but broke out all the stops while on Conan to hype up fans for the sequel. Besides appearing in costume, his character Ron Burgundy also gave a very special jazz flute performance.

Ferrell won't be the only one reprising his role in the film. The actor confirmed that director Adam McKay will be returning along with original co-stars of the movie, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell.

Paul Rudd played reporter Brian Fantana in the 2004 film, while Steve Carell played the dim-witted Brick Tamland. I love lamp anyone?

Anchorman is about a San Diego newsman in the 1970's. While news teams were dominated by men at the time, a woman (Christina Applegate) arrives at the station to shake things up. Obviously, hilarity ensues.

No word yet if Christina Applegate will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone.
