The Motorola Droid RAZR HD XT926 can now be upgraded to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, although there’s no official firmware update being released for the handset by Verizon.

Thanks to an Android developer called “darkspadez,” users of Droid RAZR HD XT926 can now have Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running on their device with the help of Slim Bean v5.6 custom ROM, Android Jinn reported.

The report added that the Motorola handset is powered by dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 1GB RAM, which make it capable enough to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based on Slim Bean v5.6 custom ROM.

Here is a tutorial explaining how to install Slim Bean custom firmware based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on the Motorola Droid RAZR HD XT926. But before trying out the process, users are recommended to take note of the following aspects:

- Backup your data

- Ensure the device has at least 80 percent battery power

- Ensure the USB Driver is installed for Motorola DROID RAZR HD XT926 in your PC

- Enable USB Debugging

- Ensure your device is rooted and has Safestrap Recovery installed

Step 1: Download Slim Bean v5.6 For Motorola Droid RAZR HD XT926.

Step 2: Download Google Apps.

Step 3: Connect the Motorola Droid RAZR HD XT926 to PC via USB.

Step 4: Copy all downloaded zip files to the SD card of your phone without extracting any of them.

Step 5: Disconnect USB and turn off your phone.

Step 6: Boot into Safestrap recovery in your Droid RAZR HD XT926. Here’s how to do it:

Press the Power button to switch on the device. After you get the Motorola splash screen, you will see the Safestrap screen. Now tap on the Recovery button at the bottom left of the screen.

Step 7: Now set up a ROM slot for Slim Bean v5.6. Here’s how to do it:

Tap on Boot Options and in the next screen tap on ROM-Slot-1. Set the data partition to 1GB if you do not wish to install several apps and games. Now wait for the partition to set up.

Step 8: Once it’s done, the ROM slot will be ready. Now, you need to install the Slim Bean v5.6 custom ROM on that slot.

Step 9: Return to the main screen by pressing the Home button. After that, tap on Install and navigate to the file “Slim-xt926-4.2.2.build.5.6-UNOFFICIAL-20130521-0436.zip.” On the next screen, slide the button to start installation process.

Step 10: After it’s done, repeat the previous step but select “Slim_Gapps.4.2.2.build.5.x.zip” instead of ROM zip. It will install the Google apps package.

Step 11: Once the installation process ends, go back to the main menu and select reboot system. The device will now boot up into the customized Slim Bean v5.6 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM. The first boot will take time.
