Android 4.3
Reportedly stock Android 4.3 SamMobile

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition featuring Android 4.2.2 will not be shipped to owners until July 9, but, if you have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 variant of the Galaxy S4, you should be able to update your phone to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean now.

SamMobile says it has ported Android 4.3 test firmware from a Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition device and installed it on a standard Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4. The tech news source reports that the software build works perfectly on the device. Having recently shown off images from the GT-I9505-model Galaxy S4 running stock Android 4.3 intended for the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, SamMobile has made the firmware available to the public.

Noting that the Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition and the Galaxy S4 Snapdragon variant are essentially the same device, just running different varieties of the same operating system, it makes sense that the stock Android 4.3 Jelly Bean would install and run seamlessly on a Snapdragon Galaxy S4.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has not yet been confirmed by Google. However, this leak coupled with the many sightings of the operating system on the sever logs of many tech websites is damming evidence that the update is in fact real. Android 4.3 was also spotted running on Nexus 4 smartphone in May.

SamMobile shared several screen captures of its Snapdragon Galaxy S4 running Google Play Android 4.3, including several pages in settings, home screens showing the stock Android background, app pages and the camera app, among many other features.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is reportedly not much different from Android 4.2.2 but includes an updated camera app, which is already featured on the Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play Editions. Rumors suggest that the operating system will soon release in July, and the Google Play Editions will likely be second to receive updates, shortly after Android 4.3 rolls out on Nexus brand devices.

SamMobile notes that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean custom ROM is not flashable through Odin and reminds that installing the firmware will void the warranty on a device. Those not familiar with flashing custom ROMs should refrain from attempting to install this firmware.
