Leaked Samsung timeline for Android 4.4 rollout Just About Phones

Most recently, tech website Just About Phones got hold of a leaked document indicating that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 may update to Android 4.4 in April or May. Though many credible sources, including Samsung and Sprint, have confirmed the update, there have been few concrete details about exactly when it will begin to roll out.

Last month, Android Geeks reported that Android 4.4 updates for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 would begin “in late Q1 2014, soon after the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.” Notably, this time is coming up, and the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 is under way. As said, Sprint has also confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will be among many devices updating to Android 4.4 on its network, but has not detailed a time frame for these updates.

Update rumors have circulated for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 ever since Android 4.4 KitKat launched late last year. In November, a similar document leaked, also indicating that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 may update to Android 4.4 between March and April.

Some have noted that the more recent leaked document lists the Galaxy Note 2 model number as SM-N7100, which is inaccurate; its model number is GT-N7100. However, insiders have told Just About Phones that the error is the very reason this document became available for leaking. The document was reportedly discarded from its usually confidential status due to the mistake. Notably, the document, which was leaked in November, includes the same mistake.
