Sony Xperia Z1 Compact gets the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Sony

Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE) has started rolling out the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware update for the Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone on Friday in three countries, including Russia, Italy and Indonesia.

The new firmware, which comes with the build number 14.4.A.0.108, is also certified for the Xperia Z1 and the Xperia Z Ultra, according to a report from the Xperia Blog.

The update adds multiple new features to the handset, such as a new simple home launcher from Xperia Z2, a TV Sideview app, a more stable user interface and standard performance-enhancing fixes, GizmoBolt, a technology news website, reported.

To check the availability of the Android 4.4.4 14.4.A.0.108 build, navigate to Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates.

In addition to the over-the-air update, users can also upgrade their devices to the new firmware by connecting their devices to the computer and flashing the firmware file manually.

The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact features a 4.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The phone is powered by a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, and sports a 2GB RAM.
