Sony has announced the arrival of the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update to a wide range of Xperia devices. The Japanese tech giant had disappointed its fans by delaying the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, but the new announcement should please them.

The official Sony Mobile blog promises the Android 5.1 update in July. GSM Arena claims that when Sony had started releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua devices were left out. But the 5.1 Lollipop update is going to arrive for these devices along with Xperia models such as Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade has been confirmed to arrive for Xperia Z series devices such as Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z Ultra GPE, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z. The 5.1 Lollipop will first arrive for Xperia Z devices and then it will come to Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua and other devices.

The last official announcement that Sony made through its official blog was on April 30. The post stated the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade is in progress for devices including the Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. The newest post confirms that even though Sony is in the process of rolling out 5.0 Lollipop to more markets, it will start the release of Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the confirmed devices in July.

GSM Arena adds that the dual-SIM versions of the above-mentioned devices also will get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. Sony Mobile adds that it will share more details on release dates for different devices soon. It also states that timing and availability of the upgrade can vary across market and operator. However, the upgrade will eventually arrive for all listed Xperia devices.
