Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev Run (Joseph Simmons) from Run DMC, has stepped out of her father’s shadow and started her own fashion line.

The 25-year-old fashionista, who attended Fashion Institute of Technology, has created her own signature collection called Angela by Angela Simmons.

She showcased her line for the first time on BET’s fashion show “Rip the Runway,” and was met with praise.

Hosted by Kelly Rowland and Boris Kodjoe, "Rip the Runway" also celebrates music, and features performances by Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Omarion, Luke James, Watch The Duck, Sevyn, Trinidad James and Jaden Smith, the Huffington Post wrote.

Simmons took to her website to share her joy regarding the show:

"I’m so excited to share the first video for my Angela by Angela Simmons collection. I’ve always wanted to create a fashion line and it’s finally happening. Check out a sneak peek of my collection."

The fashion star sat down with Global Grind to explain the look of her collection:

“It is stuff you can wear for a long time. I think it is important to create fashion that is really fashionable, yet still affordable.”

She added her line is feminine and chic but are also clothes people “can wear from day to night.”
