Typically Hollywood brides go for the glitz and glamour at their weddings, but Anne Hathaway decided to keep it simple.

The bride-to-be and Dark Knight Rises actress celebrated her engagement Adam Shulman at a New York City bookstore with a couple of quirky details.

Everything so was fun, just like Annie, a source told Us Weekly Magazine.

Guests at Hathaway and Shulman's engagement party were treated to vegan food and Hathaway's favorite flowers, ranunculus and anemones, spread throughout the book store inside bird-shaped vases.

Hathaway and Shulman began dating in November of 2008 and became engaged November 2011. Before Hathaway dated Shulman, she was involved in a relationship with Raffaello Follieri for four years. Their relationship ended when Follieri was charged and found guilty of 14 counts of money laundering, conspiracy and wire fraud. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

Shulman asked Hathaway to marry him with a six-carat, $150,000 ring. The couple will walk down the aisle in October 2013.

I am very much in love with him, Adam totally ruined my plan, Hathaway has said of her fiancé. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!
