Famed comedian Anne Meara, half of the comedy team Stiller and Meary and also known for being actor Ben Stiller's mom, has died. She was 85.

The Stiller family members wrote in a statement to the Associated Press they were "deeply saddened" by her passing Saturday of undetermined causes. Meara was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Sept. 20, 1929, and worked in the Big Apple for most of her life.

"Anne's memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedian," the Stillers said.

Meara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Stiller, with whom she formed the popular comedy team Stiller and Meara. Together, they regularly performed on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in the 1960s.

In recent years, she appeared on TV shows like "Rhoda," "All My Children," "The King of Queens," "Archie Bunker's Place" and "Sex and the City," according to her IMDb page. Meara performed in five Broadway shows, including "Anna Christie." She had roles in movies into her 70s and 80s, as well, including 2006's "Night at the Museum" and 2014's "Planes: Fire and Rescue."

Meara and her husband also starred in a Web series about pop culture produced by son, Ben. The duo often did funny interviews, which included exchanges like this one with New York Magazine in 2011:

In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
Meara: I yell at Jerry, obviously.
Stiller: I write down what she says, because it’s very funny, usually.

Meara's legacy appeared cemented as fans took to social media Sunday to mourn her death.
