Annette Charles, best known for Cha Cha DiGregorio in the 1978 movie musical, passed away on Wednesday night in her home. She was suffering from cancer.

According to TMZ, "Annette had recently started having difficulty breathing ... and when she went to the doctor she learned that she had a cancerous tumor in one of her lungs."

Charles played girlfriend to the leader of the Scorpions in “Grease,” who pulled Sandy (Olivia-Newton John) away from her love Danny (John Travolta) during a nationally-televised school dance competition.

Charles had also appeared on TV’s The Incredible Hulk and Magnum and had later become a speech professor at California State University Nortridge.

She is the second Grease star who died this year, after Jeff Conway’s death in May, who was known for his role as Kenickie.

Annette’s role as the villain Cha Cha is well-known in the film Grease as well as her spectacular dance moves with John Travolta during the hand-jive scene.
