In a video posted online on May 7, members of Anonymous, a hacktivist collective known for fighting against censorship and human rights abuse, endorse Black Bloc, a riot tactic in which protesters covering their faces in black create and inspire anarchy through violent destruction of property.

Black Bloc factions appeared at a number of May Day protests earlier this month, and were held responsible for most of the damage to property caused during the day-long celebration or worker's and human rights across the country. Occupy Wall Street has attempted to distance itself from Black Bloc tactics and activities, painting itself as a non-violent organization.

While Anonymous has expressed continued support for the Occupy movement and around the world, factions of the leaderless collective have at times endorsed anarchy and violent revolution against the governments and corporations that control the majority of power in the world.

The video has been viewed almost 3000 times and was posted by a user calling themselves Anonpyrates, which is not one of the more popular mouthpieces of the hacktivist organization. It is composed of footage of Black Bloc protests around the world, interspersed with anarchist quotations from Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkham:

Direct action is the logical consistent method of Anarchism -Emma Golman

Anarchism is the only philosophy which brings to man the consciousness of himself; which maintains that God, the State, and society are non-existent, that their promises are null and void, since they can be fulfilled only through man's subordination. Anarchism is therefore the teacher of the unity of life; not merely in nature but in man. -Emma Goldman

Anarchy: It is NOT bombs, disorder or chaos,. It is NOT robbery and murder. It is NOT a war of each against all. It is NOT a return to barbarism or to the wild state of man. Anarchism is the very opposite of all that. Alexander Berkam

The video ends with a direct message from Anonymous to the viewer:

Stand up and resist. Join resistance groups. Occupy empty building and spaces. Students-occupy the universities. Occupy the tv and radio. Resist against apathy. Do not trust any politician or government body. Occupy everywhere.

The summary of the video also includes a quotation from Chris Hedges, a contemporary American journalist and war correspondent.

Here's to the Greeks. They know what to do when corporations pillage and loot their country. They know what to do when Goldman Sachs and international bankers collude with their power elite to falsify economic data and then make billions betting that the Greek economy will collapse. They know what to do when they are told their pensions, benefits and jobs have to be cut to pay corporate banks, which screwed them in the first place. Call a general strike. Riot. Shut down the city centers. Toss the bastards out. Do not be afraid of the language of class warfare-the rich versus the poor, the oligarchs versus the citizens, the capitalists versus the proletariat. The Greeks, unlike most of us, get it.
