Anthony Davis, the 2012 NBA draft's #1 pick, has officially signed with Nike, and was photographed rocking crimson and silver Nike Foamposite Pros weeks before their September 1 release date.

The sneaker and basketball world learned Tuesday that Anthony Davis, the University of Kentucky's sensational young center who was drafted first this year by the New Orleans Hornets, had signed an official Nike sponsorship deal.

The budding superstar -- famed for his bushy unibrow and freakish athleticism -- wore Nikes during his one year at Kentucky, and is currently wearing the new Nike Hyperdunk 2012s as Blake Griffin's replacement on theTeam USA Olympics basketball team.

But he really set the shoe world on fire Wednesday, when axgilbert.tumblr.com posted a photograph of Anthony Davis wearing crimson and silver Nike Foamposite Pros about six weeks before their Sept. 1, 2012, release date, when they are due to hit the shelves at snearker stores across the United States.

The photograph has the towering Anthony Davis posing in his shiny crimson and silver Nike Foamposite Pros next to rapper Wale -- who was rocking the navy-and-white Nike Air More Uptempo 'Olympic' kicks -- at the World Baskteball Festival.

Anthony Davis' decision to sign an endorsement deal with Nike makes him the newest member of a group that includes seven of the last 10 top overall NBA Draft picks, according to sneaker news site kicksonfire.com.

Sneaker News sat down for an interview with Anthony Davis during the World Basketball Festival, where a reporter for the site was able to speak with him about the Nike deal, the Olympics and his shoe preferences.

Below is the transcript of this week's official Sneaker News interview with Anthony Davis:

Sneaker News: We know the expectations that are laid ahead for you, being the #1 pick and all, but what's going through your mind when you realize that you'll be playing alongside Kobe, LeBron, and the rest of Team USA before even playing in an NBA pre-season game?

Anthony Davis: People say it a lot but it's really a dream come true. I'm just trying to take it all in and learn from these guys who have won championships and had success in the league. It's a great learning experience for me.

SN: So you've been wearing the new Nike Hyperdunks as a Team USA member. Does that mean you're with Nike now?

AD: Yeah, actually signed a contract with them so i'm officially a Nike athlete.

SN: What plans do they have laid out for you? Maybe your own signature shoe?

AD: I'm just happy to be on the Nike team, you know. We talked about giving me my own shoe so that could happen down the line. We'll have to see.

SN: So since you don't have a sig shoe yet, what's your favorite sneakers to wear?

AD: Definitely Foamposites, and I wear a lot of Air Jordan Retros.

The crimson and silver Foamposite Pros aren't the only ones coming out this year, however. Black and gym green Nike Foamposite Pros are coming out this summer, black and medium grey Nike Foamposite Pros are set to hit shelves in December.
