Is the woman in these photos Anthony Weiner’s girl?

According to Buzzfeed, it is. The site used definitive language while answering that question in a Tuesday night posting, hours after the disgraced ex-congressman and current Democratic candidate for mayor admitted to sexting after resigning from the House in 2011.

The 22-year-old woman, who went by the name “Sydney Leathers” and “sydneyelainexo” on Facebook and Formspring – the two social media sites the woman used to engage in explicit sex chats with Weiner – refused to give her name publicly to The Dirty, the nightlife website that broke the second Weiner scandal Monday. The congressman used the moniker "Carlos Danger" during the naughty chats, but quickly revealed his real identity, according to the woman.

The scandal hit the mainstream media Tuesday, forcing Weiner to hold a news conference later in the day. The NYC mayoral candidate said he was sticking in the Democratic primary race despite the new revelations. He also admitted he continued the type of behavior that led to his resignation from Congress after he stepped down.

The Dirty posted blurred photos of the woman to hide her identity, but as Buzzfeed pointed out, one of the pictures closely resembles Sydney Leathers’ Facebook photo. The Facebook account has been taken down since Buzzfeed’s story.

There’s also the above photos of the Twitter handle “@sydneyelainexo,” operating under the name Sydney Elaine. That holder of this Twitter account identifies themselves as “Field Organizer for Obama for America/Political News Junkie/Wanna-be [sic] Political Satirist/Progressive stuck in Conservative Hell.” The Twitter account is now private and no longer has a public profile photo.

The 22-year-old woman who sent the sexts to The Dirty claimed that Weiner promised her favors, including hooking her up with a Chicago apartment, and sought out sex. But she said those things never came to fruition.

She wrote a lengthy explanation in the response over her allegations:

“I just want to clarify that although I was 22 and technically an adult, I was obviously immature and I acted irresponsibly. I realize my correspondence with Mr. Anthony Weiner was a huge mistake and I am embarrassed by it. But the facts are the facts, and he’s running for mayor of NYC so I felt I should get my story out there.

“I have no reason to lie. I don’t want the attention or I wouldn’t have kept my anonymity. I didn’t get paid for anything. I quite literally have nothing to gain from this.

“Some people have doubts about the facebook [sic] page he used to talk to me in the beginning, before switching to facebook/formspring/phone calls [sic] — It’s his personal account. It’s linked to his wife’s account. It’s deactivated at the moment because of the campaign. Aside from the fact that I know many people in the political realm who have verified that it’s his account, I also know from our phone calls.

“And to be totally clear, I did not sleep with him or receive any funds from him. I’ve seen comments stating otherwise and they are all totally false. I think it’s important to reiterate the fact that all of this happened with him after his first scandal, so all of his campaign promises about being a changed man are absolute lies.”
