AnTuTu has published the top 10 chipsets based on performance and without a surprise, Snapdragon 820 leads the group. Qualcomm

AnTuTu benchmark site is back with the list of top 10 best performing chipsets. The site has also uploaded charts showing the scores pertaining to GPU performance of each chipsets, along with CPU scores.

Going by the listing, the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 housed in the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, LG G5 and Xiaomi Mi 5 has reportedly topped the rankings.

Technically, the new, homegrown Qualcomm Kryo CPU offers twice the performance and efficiency when compared to the over-heating problem prone predecessor Snapdragon 810. To top it off, the X12 LTE apparently offers three times faster upload speeds and 33 percent faster download speeds when compared to the predecessor, according to Qualcomm.

The Snapdragon 820 managed to trump Apple's A9 chip fair and square. The scores tallied by S820 and A9 are 136,383 and 132,657, respectively.

The Apple A9 chipset is followed by Samsung's Exynos 8890 and Huawei's Kirin 950 for the third and fourth slots, respectively. Following which, a slew of chipsets housed in 2015 flagships occupy the score board.

The Exynos 7420 and Snapdragon 810 take fifth and sixth ranks, respectively. This is followed by the upper-midrange chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 652. This chipset powers Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, Sony Xperia X and Samsung Galaxy A9.

Moving on to the GPU rankings, without any surprise, the Snapdragon 820 holds the fort with the powerful Adreno 530 on board. Qualcomm’s latest Adreno 530 GPU reportedly provides “40 percent improvement to graphics performance, compute capabilities, and power usage when compared to Adreno 430.”

Similar to the CPU performance, the Apple A9 takes the second place. However, the points scored by both the chips are nowhere close. While the S820 tallied 55098 points, the A9 was able to score only 39104 points.

The next one on the list is Mali-T880MP12 housed in the Exynos 8890. This Exynos chipset scored 37,545 points and it is very close to Apple A9’s PowerVR GT7600 GPU at 39,104. The rest of the GPU performance scores are quite low and the top 5 list ends with the Adreno 430 of Snapdragon 810 and Mali-T760MP8 of Exynos 7420.
