Apple had a busy 2017, releasing three new iPhones in September, as well as new Mac models.

Throughout the year, Apple was plagued by leaks and rumors before it launched its products. The reports on upcoming gadgets even led to Apple CEO Tim Cook complaining about rumors’ impact on sales.

While the iPhone X and iPhone 8 models have been released, there are still plenty of rumors out there of what’s coming next in 2018.

Here are some of the biggest Apple leaks for next year.

Apple Single Apps

As of now, developers have to create seperate apps for iOS devices and Macs. That might change next year, according to a Bloomberg report this month. Apple could soon release apps that work across iPhones, iPads and Macs. The single apps changes could start early next year and might be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in the summer, the event in which the company usually announces software developments. The new system could launch in September. However, the report said the single app system could be changed or canceled.

The reported single apps system come after customers have complained about the lack of apps on the Mac Store. Many Mac apps are also outdated and haven’t been refreshed in year.

2018 iPhone Rumors, Features

Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones next fall, a 6.5-inch model, a 5.8-inch version and a 6.1-inch option. The latter version is rumored to feature an LCD display, while the 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch models are expected to come with an OLED display, like the iPhone X. Samsung will reportedly supply between 180 to 200 million OLED panels for Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup.

The devices could come with the iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera system. The 2018 iPhones are also expected to include a one-cell L-shaped battery, instead of the current two-cell battery on the iPhone X. The devices are rumored to include many of the features the iPhone X has and for a cheaper price.

iPhone SE2 Release 2018

Apple will reportedly release an upgraded version of its affordable iPhone SE next year, the iPhone SE2. The Cupertino company is expected to launch the iPhone SE2 in the first quarter of 2018, echoing its predecessor’s March 2016 release date. Rumors indicate the iPhone SE2 will feature a 4-inch screen with Touch ID and may come in 32GB or 128GB options. The device could also come with an upgraded A10 chip, seen on the iPhone 7. The iPhone SE2 could feature a 12MP camera and 5MP front camera, as well as a 1700 mAh battery. The iPhone could also include slightly thinner bezels. The device is expected to cost $450.

HomePod Release

Apple said in June the HomePod was coming to customers in December, but the company changed its plans last minute. Apple said last month it will “start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018.”

Many rumors surrounded the HomePod before it was revealed. The latest rumor came from a Bloomberg report, which said the development of the speaker began in 2012 as a side project. Sources told the news outlet that development for the HomePod were canceled and resurrected multiple times. Apple reportedly couldn’t determine where the device would fit within its current lineup of other products.

The speaker, powered by Siri, will cost $349 and will come in White and Space Gray options. The 6.8-inch device includes Apple’s A8 chip and has multiroom speaker support with AirPlay 2.
