India is considered to be one of the next major markets for Apple and if the latest buzz is to be believed, the company is all set to launch the new iPhone 5 in the country on Oct. 26.

The news has come from BGR India which reported citing “multiple sources” that the Cupertino-based tech giant was “preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26.”

In addition, the iPhone 5 is likely to be distributed in India by Apple on its own rather than via any of its carrier partners. The flagship smartphone is also expected to have a wider availability at the launch than earlier iPhone launches.

According to Apple Insider, the iPhone 5 launch is the quickest ever launch for an Apple product. It became available in a total of 31 countries within just a couple of weeks of its release. The company said that the device would be available in over 100 countries with 240 carriers by December.

The report also said that iPhone 5, which is currently available in Honk Kong, would be launched in mainland China by December. In addition, China Unicom was also said to be clearing space in its inventory for the sixth generation iPhone.

MacRumors reported, citing The Malay Mail that the iPhone 5 could also be launched in Malaysia on Oct. 26.

“If orders remain within projections made by Apple by Sept 30, the Oct 26 launch date in Malaysia together with several other countries will remain,” a recent Malay Mail report quoted an industry source.

“Should there be a shortfall in available supplies, the Malaysian launch date could get pushed to sometime in November.”
