iPhone 5se: Apple's Cheap iPhone
Apple's iPhone 5c, pictured above, failed to live up to its billing as the cheap iPhone, but Apple could be set to try again in March with the iPhone 5se. Reuters

Apple may have axed its plan to roll out the 6C, a smaller 4-inch iPhone, analysts say.

Business Insider reported the Apple iPhone 6C was supposed to be a new iPhone 6 the size of the iPhone 5C. The handset was expected to be a smaller edition of the iPhone 6 with flagship specifications and a 4-inch display.

Timothy Acruri of Cowen and Co. said the Cupertino, California, giant may have dropped the idea because it would be competing with the upcoming iPhone 6S. Acruri said there is no evidence available of the existence of the device within Apple's supply chain.

The analyst said that even after the arrival of the upcoming iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus handsets, sales of the last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus should continue with discounted pricing.
