Apple's Mac OS X operating system is getting an update this summer, codenamed Mountain Lion, and we've got 10 of the best new features to highlight. Everything in the tech world is going mobile, so Apple is bringing its mobile ethos to the desktop. It's not quite the one system to rule all the screens that Microsoft is going for with Windows 8, but it does integrate some great iOS features into OS X.

Apple is dropping the Mac name from Max OS X, and while Mountain Lion is another name for Puma, the OS many Apple users hated. The changes are much deeper than just the new names. Anyone familiar with the iOS 5 update that came out late in 2011 will recognize many of the new features, one of the most noteworthy being further iCloud integration. In all, there are more than 100 new features in OS X Mountain Lion, and of course, some will not think they are all for the better.

But if you have a desktop Mac and mobile iOS device, these features may be more important than to those who just have one or the other. That's an issue Apple is sure to be aiming at with this update, too. Already have a Mac? Time to get an iPad. Already have an iPhone? Time to get a MacBook Air.
