Apple Inc named long-serving director Arthur Levinson chairman of its board, filling a seat vacated by co-founder Steve Jobs, who died in October after a years-long struggle with cancer.

Walt Disney Co CEO Bob Iger, who had a strong relationship with the late Silicon Valley icon, also joins the board of the world's largest technology company.

Levinson, chairman of biotechnology giant Genentech Inc, has been a co-lead director since 2005.
