Apple Inc. will hold its music event Sep. 9 but it won't debut a tablet as previously speculated, according to reports Tuesday.

The often rumored Apple tablet may not make an appearance, but other likely highlights are the debut of new social feature for iTunes 9, and perhaps an appearance by Steve Jobs, according to All Things D, citing sources close to Apple.

Instead, the event will focus on music, sparking speculation that the Beatles catalog may be arriving in iTunes.

Reports said it was unclear who the main speaker will be, or whether Steve Jobs -- who has been absent from the public eye after surviving pancreatic cancer -- may make an appearance.

The September event is usually Apple's final product launch of the year, to get the gadget-hungry masses geared up for the holiday shopping season.

Meanwhile, the iPod Touch is expected to get more storage and a lower price, with Apple launching three models of the device in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB flavors.
