Apple WWDC 2013: MacBook Air Features 'All Day Battery,' Next-Gen Intel Processor [UPDATED WITH FULL SPECS]

Apple introduced an update to its MacBook Air line of ultralight laptops at its annual WorldWide Developers Conference, or WWDC. The new MacBook Air will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes, with 128GB and 256GB options for storage.

The new MacBook Air will run on the new energy-efficient Core processor line from Intel called Haswell, which will allow the 11-inch model's battery to last nine hours and, according to Apple, the 13-inch model will last 12 hours.

The battery life on the new MacBook Air will last “all day” thanks to the dual-core Haswell-ULT, “a great processor for battery,” according to Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of marketing. The new MacBook Air is designed by Apple to be much more energy-efficient, Schiller said.

Apple says the new MacBook Air will be able to handle up to 10 hours of iTunes movie playback, and will have 802.11ac WiFi. Schiller also introduced newly designed airport base stations that are 4-inches by 6-inches in size, as well as 2-terabyte and 3-terabyte hard drives for Time Capsule.

Pricing for the new notebooks start at $999 for 128GB of flash storage, $1199 for 256GB. The 13-inch is $1099 for 128GB and $1299 for 256GB. The new MacBook Airs start shipping today, and will be available at the Apple Store on June 12.
