The day hundreds of thousands of viewers waited for finally arrived: April the giraffe gave birth to her calf Saturday. A healthy baby boy was born “without any concerns,” but what’s his name?

As Animal Adventure Park, the upstate New York zoo where April and her calf are house, said from the beginning they would host a vote to determine the calf’s name. To participate in choosing the moniker, simply head to www.nameaprilscalf.com.

Netizens can vote as many times as they like. The only catch it that each vote is $1 and each person must vote at least 5 times, which essentially means $5 per vote.

“This is an official promotion of Animal Adventure Park,” the zoo writes at the bottom of the page. “Here's how this promotion works – we want your help choosing the name of April's new baby calf. It's a male! For about 10 days you can vote on any name or names you choose for April's new calf. You even get to decide your own spelling. Come back and vote as many times as you'd like.
After the end of the first part of the contest we will reveal the top ten names. Then you can come back and vote on any of those 10 names.”

It continues: “The second phase of the promotion will last about 5 days. At the end of voting we will reveal the winning name!”

The baby was born weighing 129 pounds and stood at 5-feet-9. “Mom and baby had a great day! Baby is strong and well, nursing like a champ,” the zoo wrote for their daily update Sunday.

Even though April already gave birth, more than 80,000 people tuned in to watch her live stream. The cam was originally set up in February.
