While a collaborative track between Britney Spears and Justin Bieber would be a great idea, the two pop stars won’t be working on a record together anytime soon.

During her interview with BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills on Wednesday, Aug. 24, Spears was quizzed by the radio host about the recent rumors claiming that she and the 22-year-old Canadian crooner are recording a new song together.

“Britney, there's a lot of rumors that you might be doing a track with Justin Bieber, is there any truth in that?" Mills asked.

“No, there's no truth to that at all,” Spears answered with a laugh.

Although a Spears-Bieber collaboration is not in the horizon, fans of the 34-year-old songtress still have something to look forward to from the “Toxic” hitmaker.

Spears will release her ninth studio album on Friday, Aug. 26. The upcoming album, titled “Glory,” was carefully curated by Spears herself and took almost two years to make.

“It took a lot of time, but I think we brought it to a level where I was really, really happy with what I had," she told On Air with Ryan Seacrest over the phone on Aug. 5. "It's cool, it's really different. I think this is probably the most hip-hop album. Not most, there are like two or three songs that go in the direction of more urban that I've wanted to do for a long time now, and I just haven't really done that."

Spears first revealed that she was working on a ninth album in Nov. 2015. “Working hard and hardly working...new album...wheeeee!” she captioned a Twitter pic of herself with songwriters Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels giving the camera comically bemused looks.

Spears’ last album “Britney Jean” was released in Dec. 2013. Although the collection boasted a signature hit with “Work B-tch,” critics dubbed the album as the singer's most disappointing effort. In addition to lukewarm response from fans, it under-performed commercially. According to Billboard, the album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 — Spears’ lowest peak position for a studio album.
