While Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton fought for the White House Tuesday, two friends - Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump - restricted themselves from speaking to each other before Election Day.

Before Donald Trump was elected the President of the United States, E! News spoke to Hillary Clinton's daughter about her relationship with Ivanka Trump. The friendship between Chelsea and Ivanka went through a tough time with Hillary facing off against Donald Trump. However, Chelsea and Ivanka became friends way before the political rivalry.

"I probably won't talk to her before Election Day, but I'll absolutely talk to her after Election Day," Chelsea told E! News. "Our friendship started before politics, so it will last beyond politics.

"We clearly have different views about what we think is the right answer and the right direction for our country, so I'm going to do everything I can to support my mom between now and when the polls close on Tuesday," Chelsea, who has played a major role in her mother's campaign, said.

In August, Ivanka told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that their friendship is still the same as it was years ago.

“She's a great girl and she's a great friend to me. And obviously the intensity and scrutiny at this moment in our lives is pretty extreme,” Trump’s eldest daughter said. “We're not the candidates. We're the children of the candidates. We've stayed close to one another, maybe a little less publicly so, but she's a good friend. We support each other."

Ivanka added: “We never talked about politics before this campaign and it's probably a good topic to avoid talking about now.”
