After years of working on their troubled relationship, it seems the issues will keep coming for Meri and Kody Brown in the upcoming season of “Sister Wives.”

TLC’s trailer for the 2018 installment shows Meri announcing to her fellow sister wife and Kody’s only legal wife, Robyn Brown, that she’s interested in opening a bed and breakfast. However, it doesn’t appear everyone in the family is on board with her new plan.

After visiting Meri’s future, out-of-state business, sister wife Christine Brown tells Meri that buying the property won’t make her any closer to family. “You’ve been struggling to find your place in the family,” Christine says. “Do you think that having something like this... its not going to make you more connected and you haven’t really been that connected.”

While Meri doesn’t respond to Christine’s comments in the preview, she is later seen talking to Kody about her issues. “I know I can be strong and do things on my own,” she says to her spiritual husband of almost three decades. “I’ve done that a lot and I don’t want to only do that.”

“Meri’s ready to go back into a deep and intimate relationship and I’m not,” Kody tells the cameras. Meri then goes on to state she doesn’t know what’s going to happen and feels as if she’s “walking in the dark.”

A follow-up scene shows Meri in tears as her fellow sister wives, including Janelle Brown, tell her that they support her no matter what is happening between her and Kody.

While the trailer makes it appear as if Meri and Kody are headed for a real split -- the couple divorced in 2014 in order for Kody to be able to legally marry Robyn in an effort to adopt her child from a previous marriage -- it doesn’t appear the pair is officially on the outs.

In November, Meri shared a shot of her and Kody posing for their Christmas card photos. Several weeks later, she posted a photo of her opening her business, Lizzie’s Heritage Inn. Kody can be seen standing next to her and supporting her in the image.

Fans will hopefully get the answers they’ve been looking for when “Sister Wives” returns to TLC with all-new episodes on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. EST.
