Subaru soon will be pulling the curtain back on its next-generation WRX, the high-performance version of the Impreza whose concept version drew crowds at last year’s Detroit auto show. But a week before the debut, images purporting to be the final draft of the Japanese muscle car have been pinned to the Internet.

The souped-up version of the 2015 Subaru WRX that was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November is finished in that World Rally Blue with a hood scoop. Unlike the concept that appeared at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the production version lacks the fancy headlamps and carbon fiber top.

The WRX STI is expected to have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 300 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Full specs will be revealed next week when the 2014 Detroit show opens on Monday for the press. The images were leaked by Mexico-based Terra Autos, which has since taken them down.

Several blogs picked up the images on Wednesday, including Inautonews. The images are high-production quality and include a cover image, suggesting they may have originated from a source inside Subaru itself.
