Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande impressed the Twitterverse with the dress she wore to the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards event Sunday night. “The Way” singer was scheduled to perform during the preshow, but admitted to being nervous about taking the stage.

According to MTV News, the starlet donned a cute floral frock by Kenley Collins with white pumps. The 20-year-old usually has a red tint to her hair, as seen on her Nickelodeon show “Sam & Cat,” but for the awards event she showed off her natural brown hue. Her hair was perfectly curled at the bottom and half-up, half-down.

When Grande walked the red carpet, she thanked photographers for “putting up” with her nerves because she was anxious about it. She tweeted:

But Grande didn’t have much to worry about. She got nothing but positive feedback from nearly everyone who laid eyes on her, including Twitter users. Check out some of their messages below:

Before Sunday, Grande sat down with MTV News to talk about what she might wear for the performance. “I don’t know,” she said at first. “I usually wear a variation of the same thing for like my whole life. No snakes,” she joked, paying homage to Britney Spears’ “Slave 4 U” VMA performance in 2001 when she wore a white python around her neck. “I’m like the least risky person you've ever met; I just want to sing to be honest. I’ll just put on a dress and sing.”
