It seems that “The Arrangement” Season 1 finale will catch viewers off guard.

In a recent interview with Huffington Post, Josh Henderson and Christine Evangelista — who play Hollywood couple Kyle West and Megan Morrison on the E! series — said that the show’s freshman run will end in a surprising way.

“I keep saying that it’s like an atomic bomb dropped on everyone. The season ends in such a way that I don’t think the audience is going to expect,” Henderson said, before pointing out that the Institute for the Higher Mind will play a bigger role in the series by the season finale.

“A big theme throughout the season has been control. And the Institute is much larger than Megan, it’s much larger than Kyle. It’s much bigger than their relationship, so how much that controls her and her decision-making, we’ll start to see, and if she’s even able to keep up with that,” Evangelista teased.

It’s unclear how exactly the Institute will become a bigger character by the season ender, but as viewers found out in last week’s Season 1, episode 8, Terence (Michael Vartan) is cooking a new project for the Institute. Just like what he shared with Shaun (Carra Patterson), this new initiative is called The First Life Initiative, a child development program whose mission is to create a path to adulthood weaving education with the Institute philosophies on awareness.

According to the synopsis for this week’s Season 1, episode 9, Terence remains focused on his new project for the Institute while Megan and Kyle deal with the studio’s troubling publicity campaign for “The Kill Plan.”

In a sneak peek from episode 9, Megan is shocked when she finds out that the public relations (PR) firm handling the publicity campaign for “The Kill Plan” plans to use their relationship to promote Kyle’s new movie with Amelia Briggs (Anabelle Acosta).

“Because love story in the kill plan is so compelling, we are using your romantic triangle to build intent to see,” the PR firm rep reveals to Megan. “It’s all timed to build maximum interest in Kyle and Amelia for the release this fall.”

Good thing the made-up love triangle will only be temporary. “We do get you back together in time for the premiere,” the publicist says. “We’re thinking, things eventually get a little crazy, you guys will decide to take a weekend away to reconnect [and get engaged] in Paris. The focus groups always love Paris.”

After the meeting, Megan confronts Kyle about the deceitful campaign to promote the film. While Kyle is fine with it, Megan clearly doesn’t support the plan.

“It's not that simple,” she tells her boyfriend. “They’re our names and our images, so it’s not entirely fake and your publicists are writing the script, which essentially means that you are. Kyle, they work for you. What if something actually real happens? Does that just get ignored?”

“Well I guess that depends … on whether or not it fits to the narrative,” Kyle replies.

Also in the penultimate episode of the season, DeAnn (Lexa Doig) moves ahead with producing the film “Technicolor Highway.”

“The Arrangement” Season 1, episode 9 airs on Sunday, April 30 at 10 p.m. EDT on E!, while the Season 1 finale (episode 10) airs next Sunday, May 7, in the same time slot. Watch the sneak peek from this Sunday’s episode below:
