Will Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell, pictured) accept Ra's Al Ghul's (Matt Nable) offer in episode 16 of "Arrow" Season 3? The CW

“Arrow” is set to return on March 18 and when Season 3 picks up, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will have to make a decision about the proposal made to him by Ra’s Al Ghul (Matt Nable) in episode 15. Will Oliver follow in Ra’s’ footsteps and become the next leader of the League of Assassins? Well, it turns out that Oliver might not even have a choice.

In episode 16 – aptly titled “The Offer” – Ra’s Al Ghul will make his case for Oliver to take his place. One promo features a voiceover from the formidable bad guy telling Oliver that Starling City will one day turn on him, but the League of Assassins would give him a chance to protect the whole world.

However, a new trailer that debuted before the show’s PaleyFest panel Saturday revealed that Oliver’s hands may already be tied. The teaser mentions a prophecy that seems to seal the hero's fate: “The man who does not perish at the blade of Ra’s Al Ghul” will become the new Ra’s Al Ghul.” Oliver took on Ra’s Al Ghul in the Season 3 midseason finale and lived to tell the tale, so it would seem the Arrow is next in line for the job.

At the PaleyFest panel, Stephen Amell elaborated on why his character may not have a choice in the matter.

“If you know Ra’s al Ghul and you know his tactics…you realize that it’s an offer in name only. It’s not really an offer. It’s a demand. If Oliver says no, there are going to be incredibly dire consequences,” says Amell.

Does this mean Oliver is going to accept the offer? Fans will have to wait to find out. “Arrow” returns with episode 16 on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
