It’s still too early to say which cast members will survive in “Arrow” Season 6, but viewers know that Oliver and his son were safe on a boat. It looks like William won’t be sent away after this traumatic trip with his biological father. Star Stephen Amell teased that Oliver’s relationship with William would be part of Season 6.

“I’m excited that not only are they going to learn about having the father/son relationship, I think we’re going to explore that in Season 6, but [William] also knows that Oliver is the Green Arrow,” Amell pointed out to the audience at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Portland (via CBR).

Though Oliver had previously been keeping William (Jack Moore) and his mother Samantha (Anna Hopkins) far away, it seems there is no going back after the island. Viewers will recall that Prometheus kidnapped William and Samantha, along with most of the Green Arrow’s other loved ones.

William discovered that Oliver was the Green Arrow, but audiences didn’t see much reaction to that. The boy was more concerned that he’d just been held hostage and the island that his mom was on was being blown up. The fact that he’ll be spending more time with Oliver may hint that his mother didn’t survive the explosions, but it also might just hint that William wants to know his superhero father.

“So there’s a lot of interesting layers and dynamics,” Amell added. “I’m just excited to have to teach him a lesson. As a father, Oliver will definitely try to be better than what he’s been as a person… So hopefully he can be a good example for William.”

For now, Oliver and William are more worried about who else they’ll be able to have relationships with in “Arrow” Season 6. It seemed like everyone else was caught in the explosion, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim promised that some characters would definitely die.

“I know everyone is trying to determine who survives, who dies, what is the result of the cliffhanger based upon people’s contractual status, and I would say that’s not necessarily a good idea,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “The example I like to point to is that was true in ‘Walking Dead.’ They had a season finale similar where you had a group of characters, all of whom were series regulars, in a dire situation at the end of their season. Just because they were series regulars did not mean that everyone came out of that cliffhanger alive.”

One character fans are sure is gone, however, is Malcolm Merlyn. Actor John Barrowman confirmed that his character was dead on Facebook. He recorded a video to say farewell to the fans.

“I am very sad to be leaving the Arrowverse. I love playing Malcolm Merlyn, and that’s it really,” he told fans in a Facebook video. “As sad as it may be, I understand how shows must change and also characters must change and develop, but that doesn’t mean I’m not very sad and upset about it.”

“Arrow” Season 6 premieres Thursday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
