English Premier League club Arsenal, who have been looking to sell of underperforming Russian winger Andrey Arsahvin, have received first instances of confirmed interest in the player, from the player's former club, Zenit St. Petersburg, who play in the Russian Premier Leageue,
Arshavin, 30, is currently struggling at the Emirates and has been linked with numerous clubs over the past months. He has been reduced to bit-part and off-the-bench appearances by Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger, leaving him frustrated, according to a Tribalfootball report, with his current state of affairs.
A departure, once the transfer window reopens in January, could well be on the cards.
We are always interested in Arshavin, the club's Director, Igor Korneyev, told Sovietsky Sport, before adding, But I can neither confirm nor deny whether we have made an offer.
