With the January transfer window around the corner, London giant Arsenal are said to be interested in CSKA Moscow’s Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev and are reportedly preparing a £15 million bid after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s scouts were impressed by the player.

Wenger has tagged the 21-year-old playmaker, who has been in an excellent form for both his club and country in the last 18 months, as the ideal replacement for Frenchman Samir Nasri. Wenger is now keen to bring in more goal-scoring options into the team and sees Dzagoev as the perfect selection.

With Russian international Andrey Arshavin looking set for a departure in the summer, if not in January, Arsenal will be looking to bring in players who can be an asset in both midfield and in attack, and the Russian youngster’s entry could prove to be a pivotal point in bolstering the Gunners’ midfield.

Dzagoev has also been targeted by Italian Serie A clubs AC Milan and Juventus, according to a Caughtoffside report.

Dzagoev has made a total of 139 appearances for CSKA and has also managed to score 36 times. The player was also chosen as Best Young Player of the Year by Russian Football Union at the end of the Russian Premier League 2008.
