Much of the attention at Arsenal since the conclusion of the Premier League season has focused on the future of Robin van Persie, as the club's star player has held discussions with manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis over the possibility of extending a contract that has just a year left to run.
While money is also a factor, the Dutchman is also known to want assurances over the club's ambitions. Pointedly, Van Persie is eager to hear that the club plans on making serious additions in the transfer market this summer.
With Lukas Podolski already signed, speculation has also linked Arsenal with moves for other high-profile talent, such as Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. Having secured Champions League qualification, top talent should be available if the Gunners are prepared to pay the transfer fees and wages required.
