Motorola, which had a memorable year in 2010 with profitable smartphone sales, has come out with a teaser ad for its upcoming Motorola Xoom tablet.

The provocative ad used by Motorola is similar to the one used by Apple in 1984 which was aimed at IBM which is shown in the video ad as “On January 24th, Apple computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why1984 won’t be like 1984.” During that time IBM seemed like the only technology super power.

And the Motorola ad takes us back from 2010 to 1984. The ad says: “More Freedom. It's time to explore. It’s time to live a free life.” Apple had used the ad as its landmark ad during the Super Bowl.

Motorola’s earnings rose after the introduction of its new Droid line of smartphones. The devices earned credibility on the back of stellar features. Now the time has come to take over the other market involving tablets, where Apple iPad seems unmovable from its throne.

The new ad is backed up by Google’s latest introduction of Honeycomb operating system which many tech enthusiasts predict will be the best Android operating system which has the capability to trounce Apple iPad which features the iOS platform.

The latest OS Honeycomb comes with certain features which are exempt in Apple iOS, like improved widgets, notification bar, multitasking, support for flash, bigger home screen, faster processor and huge RAM memory in upcoming Xoom. The war seems to be getting intense as Apple is already preparing its next generation Apple iPad and iPhone 5 for the year 2011.

In fact Motorola Xoom tablet features a better dual-core processor along with 1 GB RAM memory to back up the Honeycomb tablet. On the other hand Apple iPad has 256 MB RAM which is too less for a tablet and doesn’t support multitasking. Xoom overtakes iPad with a much better video playback of 1080p compared to iPad’s 720p and backs the tablet with 10 hours of battery life similar to Apple iPad along with additional camera features.

Also this year, Motorola revealed its new smartphone, the Motorola ATRIX 4G, which features the biggest memory with 1 GB and 1930 mAh battery which has the longest battery life available in the market today with 9 hours of talk time on 3G.
