As the final countdown to the Super Bowl XLV begins, the pregame excitement is palpable. Ahead of the Sunday spectacle, curiosity over new Super Bowl commercials has taken over indicating that sports event spells more than football.

While for audiences, especially the female contingent, the commercials add to the entertainment value; advertisements are part of the massive money game that supplement the sports. As per reports, a 30-second commercial is running about $3 million. The price boils down to $100,000 per second. The 45th Super Bowl has turned into the biggest advertising event of the year, with an estimated audience of 110 million viewers. Fox, which is the network carrying the game this year, reportedly even sold out early, in contrast to the trend seen in over the past two years.

Here is a list of most-awaited Super Bowl commercials 2011:

Skechers

Reality TV bomshell Kim Kardashian is set to makes Skechers sexy. With rumors that the ad will be racy, the Skechers ad has emerged as the most spoken about Super Bowl commercial. The advertisement promoting Sketchers Shape Up shoes reportedly shows the 30-year-old eye-candy heating up the screens with a mystery man. The ad is also set to attract more eyeballs due to the recent recall of her 2010 W magazine photos after they were mentioned in the Kourtney and Kim Take New York show.

Snickers

After Betty White renewed her career with last year's ad for Snickers, the new ad for 2011 will feature Roseanne Barr and Richard Lewis. The latest Snickers commercial is said to be a continuation of the 'You're Not You When You're Hungry' campaign. The recently released teaser of the ad showed Roseanne Barr, best known for the 80s sitcom Roseanne, and Richard Lewis, who has appeared in tons of movies and TV series, handling dangerous power saws. The lines: This is your job, These are your employees and What could go Wrong? follow. For the answer to this question, you will have to wait until the third quarter of the Super Bowl. Barr and Lewis have a tough task in impressing the audiences this year following the Betty White ad, which emerged as the favorite among the crowd and the critics.

Best Buy

The unusual team up of veteran rockstar Ozzy Osbourne and teen pop star Justin Bieber has got everyone talking about the Best Buy commercial that will air on Super Bowl Sunday. In a press release, Best Buy said the ad will showcase creativity and humor to millions of football and advertising fans throughout the country. The retailer's first ever commercial to air during the Super Bowl will be aired in the third quarter of the Super Bowl.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen commercial starring a kid in a Star Wars costume is another commercial that has got everyone talking. The ad featuring a pint-sized Darth Vader has already hit the internet. The video titled 'The Force' has two selling points to make up for the lack of star power - a little kid and Star Wars.

Doritos

Another brand that is not going for the safe bet of getting crowd-magnet celebrities to appear in ads is Doritos. In fact, Doritos goes on to achieve more buzz around the commercial by doing the right opposite - crowd-sourcing. For the Super Bowl this year, Doritos yet again sponsored a contest for consumer created commercials, effectively building up more anticipation over the other ads set to be aired during Super Bowl.

Anheuser-Busch

Anheuser-Busch stands out in the advertising arena as the big spender is set to have five commercials. This will include a 60-second romp with the Clydesdales. But the one that has created a lot of buzz is the Super Bowl debut of Belgian brew Stella Artois with a humorous musical interlude featuring Oscar-winning actor Brody as a 1960 jazz club singer who only has eyes for Stella.

Among the other popular Super Bowl advertisers are Pepsi, Budlight, Budweiser, Godaddy, Audi, Careerbuilder.com, and E-Trade.
