A publicity stunt for James Blunt?

After rumors started circulating on the web that James Blunt would perform at Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding, the musician himself shot the speculations down.

It was initially reported by Agence France Press that the award-winning British musician will play the organ at the ceremony on April 29.

"I'm actually playing. I'm not singing, I'm playing the church organ there," Blunt said.

It was revealed, though, that Blunt was just kidding.

His rep said that he was just joking and that he will be unable to even attend the wedding, as he will be on tour in the U.S.

James Blunt gained fame with his first album, "Back to Bedlam," which was released in 2005 and included the hit singles "You're Beautiful" and "Goodbye My Lover."

Before Blunt joined the music world he was serving the Life Guards regiment of the British Army and had served under NATO in Kosovo's 1999 conflict.

While it has not been announced who will sing at the royal wedding, Elton John and Paul McCartney are rumored to be performing at some point during the occasion.
