For almost 250 years, Royal Ascot has established itself as a national institution and the centerpiece of the British social calendar. Many consider it to be the ultimate stage for the best racehorses in the world. Each year, for the third week in June, tradition, pageantry, fashion and style all meet at the most beautiful racecourse in Great Britain. With nearly £4 million in prize money on offer and a total of eighteen 'Group' races (racing's term for the most prestigious races) over the five days, this is an event not to miss. Each day begins with the Royal Procession making its way from the Golden Gates, along the racecourse and into the Parade Ring. The first race of six each day is at 2:30pm and the last is at 5:35pm, after which racegoers celebrate around the bandstand.
