Ryan Seacrest and Selena Gomez surprised the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia when Seacrest brought the singer to the ribbon cutting for The Voice, his broadcast media center.

The Ryan Seacrest Foundation has chosen the hospital as the newest location for The Voice, a center where patients can work in radio, TV, and new media.

The Voice will offer a creative outlet for patients to learn about the broadcast arts, operate an in-house studio or even to listen to the broadcast, and call in requests, the hospital announced. It will give them a little bit of control that is so often lost while in the hospital.

The Voice will also involve students from local journalism schools, colleges and universities to provide an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in broadcasting, programming and operating a multi-media center.

Seacrest told Matt Lauer on the Today Show, This is a TV and radio studio that is built in the lobby here at the Children's Hospital, Philadelphia, that broadcasts up to each individual room. So it's meant for the kids to come down and use. Also, we'll have celebrity guests come down and perform for them.

I wanted to come up with something that they can do, because some of them are here for quite a while.

Matt Lauer asked if Seacrest was possibly looking to find that young person who takes an early interest in radio like you did as a kid, to which Seacrest responded, In reality, the young broadcasters of American could be discovered in a facility just like this.

Seacrest also opened a center in Atlanta, where he got his start in radio.

Seacrest hit Twitter on Friday and stated, Months ago I promised the kids @ChildrensPhila I'd return w/ a surprise. Today we open #TheVoicePhilly & i'm bringing @SelenaGomez w me!!

Selena Gomez also hit the popular social media site to thank Seacrest for bringing her along to surprise the children at the hospital. Gomez tweeted, @RyanSeacrest thanks for having me. Visit www.ryanseacrestfoundation.org to learn how to help The Voice.yfrog.com/klxnpzj.
