The death of Amy Winehouse came too soon at the age of 27 and the talented singer deserves to be remembered for more than going to rehab.

Her 2007 song Rehab, carefully crafted and extremely poetic, is proof enough that Winehouse was a brilliant singer and writer. Amy Winehouse was 23 years old when she wrote the haunting lyrics.

Sadly, profound brilliance inherently comes with profound disquiet. Friends placed Winehouse on suicide watch in 2008 after she threatened to drive a knife into her chest. Winehouse reportedly said, What's the point in living?

London Ambulance Service received a call at 3.54pm. When they arrived there, the woman was already dead. A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said, Sadly the patient had died.

The 27-year-old's cause of death is not yet known.

The singer suffered from alcohol and drug addiction and mental health issues. She wanted to be skinny and beautiful. And she was. Sadly, she did not know it.

Winehouse's 2006 Back to Black album cemented her fame and won her five Grammy Awards.

Rumors of Winehouse's death began to appear on Twitter Saturday evening. Among those to comment was former prime minister's wife Sarah Brown.

Close friend 26-year-old Kelly Osborne tweeted, I can't even breathe right now. I'm crying so hard. She added, I just lost one of my best friends. I love you forever Amy and will never forget the real you!
