Arsenal’s Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh is expecting to make a bigger impact this season after successfully adjusting to English football.
Chamakh could not maintain the successful form that he was in during the earlier part of the previous season and featured in lesser games after Dutchman Robin Van Persie returned to full fitness. The 27-year-old Moroccan, however, has rejected the view that he might suffer the 'second season syndrome' during the 2011/12 season.
"I understand both the football and the group better, and I now have many friends in this team. So I aim to keep improving and to make a big contribution,” Chamakh told Arsenal.com.
Chamakh said that the first pre-season is always difficult as the players have to get used to the new training schedules and make new friends but when everyone is together, everything looks fine.
The team is just back from training in Germany and a pre-season tour of Malaysia and China for the Emirates Cup over the weekend.

"I think it was a good, new experience for the entire squad," said Chamakh in an Arsenal.com report.
Marouane Chamakh arrived at Arsenal in 2010 on a free transfer after completing his contract with French club Bordeaux where he appeared in 230 games and scoring 56 times. He, however, has only appeared for Arsenal 29 times and scored seven goals.
