Lionsgate announced on Monday that Kenny Ortega will serve as director for the remake of the 1987 classic, "Dirty Dancing."
The hire is perfect, since Ortega choreographed the original film that starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray as Johnny Castle and Frances "Baby" Houseman.

Attention will soon focus on the remake's new cast, which Lionsgate has yet to name.
What about Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone? The two recently paid tribute to "Dirty Dancing" in their summer romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love." In one of the film's steamer moments, the stars re-enact the famous scene between Swayze and Grey, complete with the movie's theme song "Time of My Life."
One pairing that would not work is Gosling and Al Roker. While promoting "Crazy, Stupid, Love," Gosling offered to catch Roker on the "Today Show" back in July.

Anne Hathaway would also make a good lead. The actress showed off her singing and dancing skills at the 2009 Academy Awards, with a number that ended with Hathaway wrapped around host Hugh Jackman. But she might not have time, as Hathaway is currently busy filming "The Dark Knight Rises," playing the legendary Catwoman.
Lea Michele and Zac Efron might be a good pair as well. The "Glee" star also has an extensive Broadway background, and Efron, well, he starred in Ortega's 2006 film, "High School Musical."
If Ortega's remake is on the young side, he might even consider Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, or his girlfriend Selena Gomez. But it might be hard for viewers to believe that Bieber can pass as a dance instructor.
Whatever the studio and Ortega decide, the "Dirty Dancing" remake will have big shoes to fill. The film went on to gross more than $200 million at the box office worldwide, and remains one of the most beloved dance films of all time.
