Jennifer Grey, who starred as Baby in the 1987 hit film' Dirty Dancing ,' told fans that she is "so excited" that the iconic film will be remade. "I'm so excited about this news and I think there's nobody better than my beloved Kenny Ortega who is as responsible as anyone for the success of the first one. I can't wait to see what he's going to do with it," Grey told the Wall Street Journal through her publicist.
"I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake," Grey, 51, tweeted Monday.
The original film, which starred Grey and Patrick Swayze, grossed $214 million worldwide.
The news came Monday, irritating most and pleasing others. Some hardcore fans felt appeased when it was announced that the original film's choreographer would direct the remake.
Lead actor in the original 'Dirty Dancing' film Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer in 2009. Grey and Swayze played a young girl and an older man who fell in love during a summer in the Catskills.

The original film made $6 million and received two Oscars. The film also prompted a television series, play, and sequel.
